Three of my four summers as a senior counselor I was selected as the Blue team captain. It was both and honor and privilege to be picked. Color War captain is such a prestigious position and it was an incredible experience getting to lead half the camp through a week of rigorous competition. 3 TV is where I got my first real world look at a sports department and how it works. Here I shot a ton of high school sports, produced packages, edited, reported, and assistant produced. This was a lot more work and hands on experience than any other internship you can image. This is how I spent my friday nights throughout my junior and senior year of college. Whether it was for the Varsity Zone on 3 TV, my documentary on Horizon Huskies Football, Cronkite NewsWatch, or Friday Night Fever on 12 News, there is still no better way to spend a friday night. After playing for the Sun Devils my freshman year, I was a member of the Cactus Men's League. It was a great way to stay involved in the sport I loved and we would travel to places like San Diego to compete in tournaments. From highlights to sound bites to VO's, this is where I get to really be myself and bring my love of sports to the viewers and make it interesting for the non-sports fan. This was my first payed TV job and I honestly had a blast. I would go to my game of the week and shoot the game. From there I would edit highlights for the show and edit a package to put up on the web.
